What does the Art Warriors name means?

Ars et Mars, arte y guerra, art and war. It means that we’ve found art as our battlefield, and ignorance our enemy. Everyone has a Warrior inside, you just have to pic your battles.

Are you a One Man Army or a Crew?

We used to be a crew but now I (Antonio Gamboa) am the only one, but of course I have my brothers with me making things.

Why you guys look like a Motorcycle Club? Are you felon riders?

Not all of us are riders, but we all think that AW works as a clan, and the MC thing is just as good for us as any other group. We love bikes, leather, and the MC iconography, so we’ve chosen it as our way to express the clan opinions.

What does the 1% and 5% symbols mean?

Onepercenters stands for ol’ MCs meaning that 99% of the MCs where doing legitimate work, but the other 1% were proud to say they didn’t. For us it means that 99% of the “crews” and “studios” do comercial mainstream work, we do what we want to do at every minute.

Fivepercenters stands for the Nation of Gods and Mans, meaning that we support them, the Lessons and the Message. Our Prez is a straight christian that believes that God is inside everyone, and it just a matter of names. We all pray to the same God. So we support the Fivers and share our thoughts of peace and universal understanding to all of the religions.

How Can I Become a Warrior?

You ARE a Warrior, you just have to choose your battles. If you mean that you want to ride with us you have two options;

1) If you are as good as you think you are, send us a mail to info@theartwarriors.com with the Subject “Prospect” and your info and portfolio links (no images attached please), and we’ll see if we vote you in after you prove us you are a legit AW member.

2) From time to time we launch some projects that involve hangarounders, if you feel lucky enough you can apply to collaborate with us in some of this projects, it doesn’t mean that you’ll be voted in, but it’s a good enough start to be part of our stuff. Some of us started that way…

I have recorded an album and I would like you guys to make my artwork, what should I do?

That’s great, thank you for your interest. First of all you should write down exactly what do you want and when, then if you think that it fits our style of work, send us a mail explaining the details and we’ll think about it. As you may know, we don’t work for free anymore, so you’ll have to pay, half at the beginning, half at the end. No exceptions, sorry.
